The firm has considerable expertise in working with various building construction techniques and materials such as wood frame, masonry, cast-in-place and precast/prestressed concrete, conventional and three-dimensional ductile moment-resisting steel frames, and computer modeling and finite element analysis. We also have considerable experience in the use of a variety of “Green” materials such as adobe, straw bale, Rastra, structural insulating panels, recycled concrete, recycled lumber, engineered wood products and adaptive re-use.

Established in 1984 as Howard and Van Sande Structural
Consultants, Inc. and restructured in 2005 as Van Sande Structural Consultants,
Inc., the firm employs four engineers (each with at least 10 years of
experience in the profession), and experienced CAD drafters.
