COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Van Sande Structural Consultants, Inc., is a Santa Barbara based Structural Engineering firm in our 36th year of operation, dedicated to providing quality service, creative design solutions, and first in class engineering expertise to clients primarily throughout the Western United States.

Our experience in the design of new buildings and the seismic retrofit of existing buildings is achieved by approaching each project with flexibility, new ideas, and quality service. We utilize new technologies and advanced structural analysis techniques to achieve cost-effective solutions to maximize value and enhance a building’s seismic performance. Our approach is to provide creative structural design solutions that respond to the needs and goals of our clients.

The majority of services performed by Van Sande Structural Consultants have been for structures located throughout California’s Central and South Coast. This work encompasses commercial, industrial and public facilities as well as large scale private residences. Our experience also includes structural investigation and forensic studies, expert witness, peer review, value engineering, seismic strengthening of unreinforced masonry, and other substandard buildings, remodels, and additions, and construction administration.

The firm has considerable expertise in working with various building construction techniques and materials such as conventional wood frame, masonry, cast-in-place and precast/pre-stressed concrete, conventional and three-dimensional ductile moment-resisting steel frames, and computer modeling and finite element analysis. As the only structural engineer member of the Green Building Alliance, we also have considerable experience in the use of a variety of “Green” materials such as adobe, straw bale, insulating Hybrid Block, structural insulating panels (SIPS), recycled concrete, recycled lumber, engineered wood products and adaptive re-use of existing buildings.
We are seeking an individual that is eager to join our firm with the potential for a long term commitment. As a recognized leader in seismic engineering in our community, we offer a diverse, challenging mix of projects on both new and existing structures.  Our growth is rooted in the career development of our engineers to become project managers/leaders.  We currently have a great team; rich with technical ability, focused on customer service and full of character.

Santa Barbara is often described as the American Riviera.  Located on the beautiful Central Coast of California, nestled between world class scenic beaches and a beautiful mountain range, and recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S.  With a year round Mediterranean climate, there are numerous recreational opportunities.
